Nick Mavar, 'Deadliest Catch' Deckhand, Dies at 59

Marwar, a 16-Year Veteran of the Discovery Channel Reality Series, Passed Away Thursday in Alaska

Nick Mavar, a longtime deckhand on the Discovery Channel reality series "Deadliest Catch," has died at the age of 59. Marwar passed away on Thursday, June 13, in Naknek, Alaska, according to the Bristol Bay Police Chief. The cause of death has not been released, but authorities say it was due to natural causes.

Mavara appeared on "Deadliest Catch" for 16 seasons, beginning in 2008. He was a deckhand on the FV Northwestern, one of the fishing vessels featured in the series. Marara was known for his hard work and dedication, and he was a fan favorite among viewers.

"Nick was a beloved member of the 'Deadliest Catch' family," said Discovery Channel in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends during this difficult time."

Marwar is survived by his wife and two children.
